Assemblyman Paul Kanitra Named to GOPAC's National Class of Emerging GOP Leaders
Assemblyman Paul Kanitra has been named to GOPAC’s 2025 national class of emerging leaders. GOPAC is a political training organization that works to elect the next generation of Republican leaders. The PAC was founded in 1978 by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Delaware Governor Pete du Pont.
It is a massive deal for the NJGOP and the state as a whole, as no New Jersey legislator has been named to the list in decades. The former Point Pleasant Beach Mayor ran for Assembly in 2023, succeeding John Catalano, who decided not to seek re-election to the Assembly and instead run for Mayor of Brick. Kanitra knows how big of an honor it is to be named to this list.
“It is an incredible honor to be included in this class of fellow hard-driving conservatives with an eye toward a better and more prosperous future,” Kanitra said. “I am looking forward to working with GOPAC to learn how we can more effectively build support for Republican legislators and policies that will lower costs, make our communities safer, and bring us back to solving the real issues that matter, not the nonsense Democrats have pushed.”
In order to be named to the list, a legislator must have been nominated by legislative leaders to a legislative post, such as chairing a committee or party leadership. Kanitra was made eligible because he was appointed by Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio to serve on the Republican Energy Task Force.
GOPAC Chairman David Avella is proud of the 2025 class and emphasized the need to keep building the future of the Republican Party by identifying the future leaders of the GOP. The leaders who have been identified have the possibility to seek higher office, such as Governor or Congress, down the road.
"Our 2025 Class of Emerging Leaders is the next installment in our mission to build a roster of Republicans who are focused on ideas to make the lives of their constituents easier, safer, and better," said Avella in a statement. "Whether it is leading in their state legislative chamber or running for higher office in the future, we welcome being part of their development and success."
A frequent guest on Fox News, Kanitra is the Founder and President of Lobbyit, a lobbying firm based in our nation’s capital. He is no stranger to NJ politics; before becoming Mayor of PPB, he served one term as a Councilman. He has consistently been a staunch fighter of conservative values in Trenton.
