BREAKING: President Trump Endorses Ciattarelli for Governor
The endorsement cements the 2021 GOP nominee as the front-runner for the 2025 nomination
President Donald Trump has officially weighed in on the NJ gubernatorial race, endorsing Jack Ciattarelli for NJ’s top post.
"Jack Ciattarelli is a terrific America First Candidate running to be the next Governor of a State that I love, NEW JERSEY!" The 47th President continued, “Jack Ciattarelli is a WINNER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement - HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, ELECT JACK CIATTARELLI!
The Trump endorsement effectively ends a fierce and hotly contested primary in which jabs were shared constantly about which candidate is the most “Trumpy.”
Jack took to X to share how honored he is to be endorsed by Trump.
“Truly humbled and honored to receive President Trump’s very strong endorsement today,” he said. It’s time to unite our party, win big in November, and make New Jersey affordable and safe again. When I’m Governor, we will.”
On the other hand, fellow Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Spadea, who falsely claims that he has been with Trump since the escalator, expressed that he will remain in the race for Governor despite the endorsement.
“We fight. 28 days to go,” Spadea said. “@realDonaldTrump endorsed a poll not a plan. We have the only plan and core principles to restore common sense to New Jersey government. Let’s go win. Join us!” Many in the Spadea camp have expressed their commitment to voting for Spadea, even going as far as to vote for him via a write-in vote in the general if he does not get passed the primary.
Other top NJ Republican politicos also commented on the Trump endorsement, where calls to unite the GOP took center stage.
“The President of the United States has spoken, and it’s time to rally behind Jack Ciatterelli! President Trump knows leadership when he sees it, and Jack is the fighter New Jersey needs,” said State Senator Michael Testa.
Jack is not the only candidate Trump has endorsed in the past few days; DJT also endorsed Congressman Tom Kean in his bid for re-election next year on May 8. Kean’s district is easily the most competitive in the state. He won re-election last year, defeating former NJ Working Families Party Executive Director Sue Altman by a sizable margin. The DJT of Kean solidifies that he will have little to no primary challengers. Thus, allowing the Republican National Committee to start pouring resources into his district now.
Historically, the Trump endorsement has proven to be very powerful in the primary and rather mixed results in the general. Since Trump performed very well in NJ last year, we could very well see some more GOP gains in the fall.
