Disney and DeSantis Settle Lawsuit
The Long Legal Battle Comes to an End; Marking a Huge Win for the Governor of Florida
Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have settled their ongoing legal battle which started two years ago.
It is a new chapter for Disney in the free state of Florida. Disney will now be operated just like any other corporation in America. The legal battle started over Disney’s opposition to Florida House Bill 1557, The Parental Rights in Education Act. Otherwise known by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.” The bill, which was signed into law in March 2022, forbids Florida schools to teach the subjects of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten to the third grade. Disney’s opposition to the bill resulted in DeSantis stripping Disney of its self-governing status, which they had been doing for about fifty years. Disney then sued DeSantis, who claimed their First Amendment rights were violated for speaking out against the bill.
“Everything we've done has been in the best interests of the state of Florida and we have been vindicated on all those actions,” said DeSantis. “Going forward we're going to continue to govern with the best interests of the state of Florida.
Jeff Vahle, President of Walt Disney World Resorts is optimistic about the new partnership. “This agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with the new leadership of the district and serves the interests of all parties by enabling significant continued investment and the creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs and economic opportunity in the state.”
While DeSantis was running for President, many Trump supporters and the mainstream media smeared DeSantis saying he “lost to Disney.” Vanity Fair labeled the feud as “ridiculous,” while Vox labeled DeSantis’ legal battle as a “political liability.” Even notable Trump grifter Kari Lake mocked DeSantis on Newsmax, claiming he “can’t beat Donald Duck.” DeSantis proved them all wrong.
DeSantis has accomplished so much during his time as Governor. This is easily the biggest accomplishment of the DeSantis Administration. He took on the biggest corporation in Florida and beat them when many thought he could not do it. DeSantis should run again for President in 2028. He has proven to be an effective leader in his state by always taking on the tough challenges. He was a fierce advocate against the COVID-19 lockdowns, made financial literacy a required course for high schools, and now his big win against Disney. I firmly believe he will make America proud to have him as the leader of the free world.

Agreed. Trump being in the race made it much harder for him to gain ground, but his campaign team was also clearly not up for the task. They made amateurish mistakes again and again. With a better campaign team and Trump out of the way, I think he would cruise through the nomination.
