Lawrence Moore Teaming up with Chris Konawel for Assembly in LD3
Republicans lost control of the district during the 2023 midterms
Harrison Township Firefighter Lawrence Moore announced today that he is teaming up with Gloucester County Commissioner Chris Konawel for Assembly, according to a press release. Moore currently serves as the Deputy Mayor of Harrison Township and as a Captain of the Harmony Fire Company. Moore has served as a volunteer firefighter for over a decade.
The move comes right before the Gloucester County Republican convention.
“Lawrence Moore is the real deal,” said Konawel. “As Deputy Mayor, he’s held the line on taxes. As a firefighter, he’s kept our communities safe. Together, we’ll get South Jersey moving again.”
Moore is very excited to be teaming up with Konawel.
“Chris is a fighter who took on the status quo – that’s why he’s won twice where others couldn’t,” said Moore. “Together, we’ll put out the dumpster fire that is Trenton politics, and make New Jersey affordable again.”
Konawel is one of two Republicans to win countywide twice since 2010. Konawel’s 2021 victory with Nick DeSilvio was the first time a Republican won a Gloucester County race since 2011. Both Konawel and DeSilvio won reelection in 2024.
As Commissioner, Konawel held the line on taxes and spending, developed and funded the first County Commissioner Mobile Office in the state, and advocated for better care for animals at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. Konawel will take his focus on safer communities, lower taxes, and fighting corruption from the County Courthouse to the State House.
Moore, the proud son of a school bus driver, knows how hard it is to make ends meet in New Jersey, and he’ll take on the bad behavior in Trenton that makes New Jersey unaffordable for the next generation.
Konawel and Moore will look to take back the seats that were held by Republicans for one term from 2022 to 2024. The incumbent Assembly representatives, David Bailey and Heather Simmons defeated Assemblywoman Bethanne McCarthy-Patrick and Hopewell Township Committeeman Tom Tedesco. Tedesco ran for the Assembly seat after then-Assemblywoman Beth Sawyer opted to challenge then-Senator Ed Durr. Sawyer’s primary challenge against Durr was unsuccessful.
