Mahwah Republican Leaders Endorse Frank Pallotta for Assembly
Note: NJO does not endorse candidates in primary elections.
Legislative District 39 Assembly candidate Frank Pallotta has been endorsed by the Republican leadership of his hometown of Mahwah, the largest municipality in Bergen County by landmass.
Pallotta, a former Vice President of Goldman Sachs, is not a new face to the New Jersey political scene, as he ran for the House of Representatives in 2020 and 2022 but never had any success. In 2023, Pallotta was John Azzariti’s campaign surrogate for his successful bid to the Assembly. He has also helped numerous local candidates in Bergen County.
"As Mayor of Mahwah, I've had the privilege of witnessing Frank Pallotta's dedication to our community firsthand over his 35 years as a resident," said Mayor James Wysocki. "Frank's tireless commitment to the people of Mahwah isn't just talk – it's backed by decades of service and real results for our town. His deep understanding of our local needs and his proven track record of getting things done make him the clear choice to help represent our District in Trenton. I look forward to working with Frank to serve our community here in Mahwah, District 39, and the State of New Jersey."
The news of Mayor Wysocki’s endorsement comes weeks after a campaign mailer was sent out by Auth and Azzariti for Assembly, saying Wysocki endorsed them. Wysocki later said he never endorsed the incumbent legislators.
Councilmembers Michelle Paz, Robert Ferguson, and George Ervin joined Mayor Wysocki in their strong support of Pallotta's candidacy.
"Frank Pallotta represents the values and vision that Mahwah residents expect from their leaders," the council members said in a joint statement. "His commitment to fiscal responsibility, public safety, and protecting our quality of life aligns perfectly with the needs of our community. We're proud to stand with Frank and encourage all Republicans to support him in the June 10th primary."
Having the endorsement of your hometown leadership is something very important. Candidates that are not endorsed by their hometown definitely raises some eyebrows.
Pallotta said, “Together, let's build a relationship that gives voters the genuine representation they deserve – one that leads with sound policies reflecting the will of the people. Let's get this done!”
The 39th Legislative District has not elected a Democrat to the Assembly since the late 1970s. The district has since been a Republican stronghold, although Democrats see a chance since independents outnumber Republicans in the district. The winners of this Assembly primary will most likely take on former Woodcliff Lake Councilwoman Donna Abene and 2023 LD39 Democratic candidate Damon Englese, who are both endorsed by the Democratic Committee of Bergen County.
