New Jersey is First...In The Wrong Category
The Garden State leads the Nation in Highest Property Taxes
According to Yahoo, New Jersey ranks first in the nation with the highest property taxes with an annual average of $9,527. No other state remains close.
Second place is Connecticut with an annual average of $7,671. Third place is Massachusetts with $7,044. Notably, the states at the top of the list are blue states while the states in the bottom five are red states. This continues to show that people who live in blue states will pay more in property taxes in a lifetime. In addition, many of these overtaxed states take in way more money than they should. This results in wasted spending and using money on utilities that New Jerseyans do not need.
The majority of people want to live in affordable states. Many New Jerseyans who move to North Carolina and Florida end up paying less in property taxes per year. People are leaving New Jersey and high property taxes are to blame. One way New Jerseyans can receive tax relief is by decreasing the budget. Under the Phil Murphy Administration, the state’s budget has gone up every year exponentially. While under the Chris Christie Administration, the state’s budget remained balanced every year. What is even more impressive is Chrstie was able to do this with a Democratically controlled legislature. The state’s budget will not decrease until we elect a new Governor. Once that happens, New Jerseyans will see major tax relief.
