New Jersey Ranks in Top 10 for Highest Public and Private Sector Union Membership
According to the annual publication “Labor Reform Policy: 50 State Factsheets” by the American Legislative Exchange Council, New Jersey ranks in the top 10 for highest public and private sector union membership. Ranking the 4th highest for public union membership and 9th highest for private sector union membership.
The union with the most members in the Garden State is, to no surprise, the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) with over 202,000 members as of 2016-2017. Yes, the same union that believes the government should have control of your kids and invited gun control activist David Hogg as a keynote speaker in 2022. The second-highest membership union is the Communication Workers of America with 70,000 members as of 2020, followed by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) with about 22,500 as of 2018.
Do you see the trend here? The teacher’s unions in New Jersey are too drunk on power. However, that is obvious at this point. Every year the teachers’ unions increase thus teachers ask for a pay raise annually. Teachers should be paid fairly based on their performance as an employee of the school. However, it is unacceptable to be taught a political agenda and topics that are not age-appropriate in the classroom. If you are a concerned parent who is worried about what your child is learning in school, I highly encourage you to speak at your next school board meeting.
