New Jersey Young Republican Federation Leadership Member Baselessly Compares NJO Contributor to Las Vegas Cybertruck Bomber
Note: This article has been updated to reflect that Josh Twyford is no longer serving as Southwest Regional Director with the NJYRF.
It is the second day of 2025, and we already have our first taste of drama in New Jersey politics.
Things turned a little ugly on X when Josh Twyford, the New Jersey Young Republican Federation (NJYRF) Southwest Regional Director compared NJO Contributor Brendan Czuczuk to Matthew Livelsberger, the aggressor behind the cybertruck explosion at Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas yesterday. LiveIsberger, 37, was a U.S. Special Forces veteran who was shown wearing a shirt saying “Glory to Ukraine, glory to heroes.” Czuczuk is a Ukrainian-American.
In a now-deleted post, Twyford quote posted MAGA influencer Jack Posobiec saying, “I thought this was @BrendanCzuczuk at first glance. Definitely fits the profile minus the special forces part.”
Czuczuk, a Mercer YR who is coming off a massive victory with Trenton Republican Councilwoman Jennifer Williams, fired back at Twyford. “You are comparing me to a terrorist??? Get your head on straight because “jokes” like this aren’t funny.” He said.
Czuczuk in a text to NJO said:
"As fellow Young Republicans, disagreement is a healthy part of our organization and I encourage civil debate every chance that is provided. What draws the line is when, because of my ethnicity and my support for Ukraine and my family there, I am compared to a domestic terrorist who committed a heinous act. This is not healthy. It is not a political disagreement. It is slander. I thank NJYR Executive Board Members for handling the situation with grace and civility." Czuczuk also mentioned that the NJYRF is handling this incident internally.
On January 3, NJYRF Chairman Michael Manning informed NJO via text that Josh Twyford is no longer serving as Southwest Regional Director as of the night of January 2.
Disagreement on policy is one thing, but to attack others personally for having different opinions than you is out of line. It is rather unfortunate to have to resort to slandering others just to get your point across. In today’s divisive political climate, it is important to remember that not everyone comes from the same background as you do. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Slander should never be tolerated.
