The 2024 Presidential Election is already starting to heat up. On the Democratic side, Marianne Williamson will primary President Joe Biden. On the Republican side, Former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley have declared their bid for the presidency, and more Republican candidates are projected to be entering the race.
The main question is; Who will be the next President? My answer is it will be a Republican Populist. Here is why:
The majority of the U.S. electorate is tired of the same old political games. They want someone who will fight for them and always put the needs of Americans first. The Republicans have already embraced populism. The two frontrunners for President for the GOP are Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Both Trump and DeSantis are America First Republicans that always fight for the little guy and defeat government corruption. However, if you look at the Democratic side, they have not embraced populism, In 2016 and 2020, the Democrats nominated two deeply entrenched establishment politicians to be their Presidential Nominee. Also, a huge chunk of Democrat voters are unhappy with the job that Biden has been doing. Many top Democrats have been asked if they will support Biden for re-election with the majority of them remaining uncommitted. However, this goes beyond who is running for President.
Take a look at the recent Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman vote. According to the Trafalgar Group, about 9 out of 10 Republican voters wanted a leadership change at the RNC. Many of these voters were supporting Civil Rights Attorney Harmeet Dhillon. Despite this incredibly large number of disgruntled Republicans and top donors and GOP leaders pledging their support for Dhillon. The RNC voting members voted for Ronna McDaniel for a fourth term receiving 111 votes. This will be a major test for McDaniel as a large amount of the GOP base is not convinced she has what it takes to lead the RNC.
At the Democratic National Committee, their strategy is labeling all Republican voters as “dangerous” and they are “domestic terrorists” News flash, insulting any voters of any political party is never a good political strategy. It gets the voters of the particular party angry and energized to vote in the upcoming election. Remember we all live in the United States where everyone is allowed to have their own opinions in the way they see fit.
The next President of the U.S. will be a populist. It will most likely be Trump or DeSantis. Biden is a historically unpopular President and the Democrats have never fully embraced populism. We live in a country that governs for the people and by the people. We need to continue to elect popular candidates that will work for the people.
